Мъже в черно 3 / Men in Black 3 - Following the more-than-awful Men in
Black 2, the last thing the universe needed was a third instalment of
the franchise. And the reports for starting the movie shoot even without
a script did not help either. The end result, however, is not a
complete disaster but Men in Black 3 is definitely not a movie event.
First, if you consider the film a comedy, it lacks any comedic moments
whatsoever, bar from some good lines between Agents K and J which may
give you a smile. Second, if you consider it a sci-fi action
extravaganza, it is deprived of any memorable stuff. And the fault
should lay not so much on script issues but mainly on director Barry
Sonnenfeld whose directing style should be left in the 90s. Perhaps a
younger, inexperienced and thus more daring director would have managed
to bring the movie in the new millennium. Anyway, on the plus side,
there is some fizzling chemistry between Smith and Brolin - the younger
version of Tommy Lee Jones. Oh, and the final scene is moving too. All
is however spoiled (once again) by the choice of the villain - there's
nothing interesting around Boris The Animal and why (for example) he hasn't escaped
the prison earlier is beyond anyone's guess. (Alexandra) **
