In Bulgarian Cinemas from 18 May 2012

Мъже от стомана / Act of Valor - Some of the action aficionados in Bulgaria (and we know that they are many) will find plenty to enjoy in the well crafted and inventively shot attack scenes but that's no excuse for this military propaganda to leave the boundaries of the country responsible for it. To make matters worse, the cast cannot act, while the plot is extremely predictable (in fact the end is revealed at the very beginning of the picture). Yes, there'll be sacrifices, there'll be men of honour and the good guys will save us all. (Tandem) *

Парад / Parada (Serbia) - Don't be fooled by the tagline, this Serbian title may be promoted as the most successful comedy in Serbia, but eventually a pure comedy Parada is not. Yes, it has so many comedic moments that even Aladeen the Dictator may be envy but at the same time it tackles with issues that still continue to prevent the Balkan region (yes, unfortunately Bulgaria included) from resembling a little bit more like the more advanced western European societies. Many however may argue that Parada relies too much on stereotypes and clichéd characters (on both sides) and that the transformation of the mindset of the main protagonist is too forced, but here comes on help the significant dose of unique humour which the creators inject in the film. A pure comedy Parada may not be, but being busy laughing you'd not care that much. (A Plus Cinema) ****

Диктаторът / The Dictator - If the thought of Borat or Bruno gives you shivers in the night, then The Dictator is not the movie which will convert you in Sacha Baron Cohen fans (try Scorsese's Hugo for that). Though I had some doubts that a fully-scripted movie (unlike the two Bs) will be of no favour for the comedian, he proved me wrong. The Dictator is edgy, provocative, outrageous and thus extremely funny. If you want your humour to be subtle (most probably you do not go the cinema at all - the disastrous performance of Intouchables shows that), look somewhere else. Many will be offended, others will run away with disgust. The fans however will scream with joy at the most ludicrous moments, shouting WTF and learning the lines by heart. Yes, you'd wanna quote Aladeen's wisdom for many days. A perfect triple-bill with Borat and Bruno, just don't eat popcorn watching them - there's an uttermost choking risk. (Forum Film) ****
