German Chart Comments - Issue Date 25.05

So it needed two years and a half to once again have a song in German to top the German charts. The honour goes to Die Toten Hosen, who this week manage to do the double as they also crown the album chart. "Tage wie diese" becomes the second number one in the long career of the rock band next to "Zehn kleine Jägermeister" from 1996.

The new number one means that Alex Clare's "Too Close" had to retreat to number 2 after three non-consecutive weeks on the summit.

At #3 worldwide smash, "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen advances by five positions to cement its hit status.

Speaking of global hits, the highest new entry comes in at #4. It belongs to US newcomer band fun., who after crowning the US chart, arrive in Germany with their great "We Are Young".

With the approaching of Men In Black 3 in cinemas, Pitbull's "Back in Time", the title song from the soundtrack, is gaining in momentum and this week enters the top ten at #7 (up from #12).

Also on the rise are Gossip's "Perfect World" at #13 (up from #19) and Emeli Sandé's "Next To Me" at #27 (up from #34). The latter is thus on her way to have her biggest hit in Germany.

David Guetta's has already had five top ten singles from his "Nothing But The Beat" album and whether "I Can Only Imagine" featuring Chris Brown and Lil Wayne will be the next, only time will tell. The song re-enters this week at #32.
