German Chart Comments - Issue Date 25.04

For a third week in a row there is no change atop the German singles chart as the places from one to three remain the same - Clean Bandit's "Rather Be" at #1 (for a third week), Mr. Probz' "Waves" at #2 and Pharrell Williams' "Happy" at #3.

Inside the top 15 we have new peaks from Route 94 and "My Love", up two to #6, George Ezra and "Budapest", up two to #12, Coldplay and "Magic", up four to #14 and Bakermat and "One Day (Vandaag)", up two to #15.

A week after it debuted at #49, "Bad" becomes the next single of David Guetta to enter the German top 20 as it shoots itself to #19. The collaboration with Showtek becomes the 16th top 20 single of Guetta as a lead artist.

At #20 "We Are One (Ole Ola)", or the official 2014 Fifa World Cup song, of Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez and Cludia Leitte soars from #72 where it entered the top 100 a week earlier. It is the seventh top 20 single of Pitbull in the country.

"I Got U" of Duke Dumont moves up eight to #23 and improves on the #25 position where the song debuted a fortnight ago.

The highest new entry belongs to Eko Fresh, together with Frauenarzt, Manny Marc and Bass Sultan Hengzt, whose song "Joko Diss" comes in at #25. Rapper Eko Fresh was last in the top 30 back in 2006 with "Gheddo". His latest appearance in the chart is thanks to some sort of a quarrel with Pro7 host Joko, but for which, as I even cannot find the song on YouTube, I actually don't care at all.

The second highest new entry is courtesy of Rea Garvey and "Can't Say No" at #32. Rea's previous single "Wild Love" peaked at #18 in 2012.

Also on the rise we can find "#Selfie" of The Chainsmokers at #38, up one, and "Down By The River" of Milky Chance at #39, up five.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 18.04

As Clean Bandit's spends a second week as Germany's most beloved single with "Rather Be", there is not much going on at the upper reaches of the German singles countdown. Thus former number ones "Waves" of Mr. Probz and "Happy" of Pharrell Williams are still at #2 and #3, respectively.

Further down the list, it's up one for Avicii's "Addicted To You"to #6, two for Route 94's "My Love" to #8 and also two for Vance Joy's "Riptide" to #9.

German rapper KC Rebell has had only one charting single so far - "Kanax in Paris" from last year (peak #60) but now, with the help of Farid Bang, he is back on a better form with "Kanax in Moskau". The latter, being the highest new entry, charts at #32.

At #35 and #36 we have two of the latest offerings of rapper Kollegah "Alpha" and "Aks Im Wandschrank" re-entering the top 100, while the second new entry is the comeback single of Anastacia. "Stupid Little Things", which enters at #38, marks the release of Anastacia's "Resurrection" LP. Last the US singer, who had a relatively steady chart career in the country, was in the German top 100 with "I Can Feel You" from 2008.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 11.04

Following a four-week stay at #1, Mr. Probz' "Waves" moves down one to #2 to clear the way for Clean Bandit's former UK #1 "Rather Be" to top the German singles chart, up from #3. The bronze medals this week have been won by Pharrell Williams and "Happy", down from #2.

Just several weeks ago Jan Delay's "Liebe" spent a brief week at #59 before disappearing completely from the top 100 and before everyone writes the German singer off, he is back with a new track directly at #6. "St. Pauli", with its interesting video and performance at this year's Echos, has caught the attention and thus becomes Jan's third top ten single after his debut "Irgendwie, irgendwo, irgendwann" reached #2 in 1999 and "Oh Johnny" also peaked at #6 in 2009.

Jess Glynne, who provides vocals to Clean Bandit's current number one, has the honour this week to round up the top ten as "My Love" of Route 94, in which the singer also appears, rises ten to #10.

Up twelve to #11 and entering the top 20 for the first time is Vance Joy's excellent "Riptide", while "25" of Die Fantastischen Vier becomes the band's tenth top 20 single as it soars also twelve to #15.
Also on the rise are "Heart To Heart" of James Blunt, up two to #17, and Bakermat's "One Day (Vandaag)", also up two, to #20.

The influx of UK dance #1s in Germany continues with the arrival of "I Got You" of Duke Dumont at #25. "Need U (100 %)", the previous single of the DJ, reached #45 in Germany.

After two weeks at #40, Milow's "We Must Be Crazy" manages to advance six to #34, while after the mega success of "Stolen Dance", Kassel duo (yes, I thought in the past the act consisted of only one person) Milky Chance bring a second single inside the top 50 as "Down By The River" rises ten to #44. Also on the ascent is "Selfie" by The Chainsmokers, this week at #45, up from #50.

The Album Chart

Once again the German album chart is full of new entries but Helene Fischer's "Farbenspiel" is still number one. And yes, the album is definitely going to top the year-end chart for two consecutive years... Frei.Wild, who are usually found at the top, are this week at #2 with "Live In Frankfurt", while their other new offering - "Auf stiller Fahrt-Die Konzertreise" debuts at #5. In between, at #4, we have Roger Cicero and his "Was immer auch kommt". Runrig's DVD "Party on the Moor" enters at #6, Milow's "Silver Linings" is at #7 and Herzog's "Eine Drogenlose Frechheit" is at #8.

Following a relatively slow start, "Heart To Heart" of James Blunt finally manages to find its way inside the top 20 as it rises 14 positions to #19 to become the fifth top 20 single of the singer.

Surprisingly, or not, after the success of Clean Bandit, another dance number one track from the UK storms the German chart as "My Love" of Route 94 soars from #53 to #20. It is the first hit of the dance project and features the vocals of Jess Glynne, who has also helped the Clean Bandit's song being so popular right now.

At #22, it is up one for Bakermat's "One Day (Vandaag)", while "25", the anniversary single of Die Fantastischen Vier rises to #27 from #38 where it debuted last week. It is the eleventh top 30 single of the rap band. At #30, up from #34, Jason Derulo has his eighth top 30 single with "Trumpets".

At #36 there is a re-entry of "Clown" of Emeli Sande, which flopped the first time around but now has the honour to be Sande's third top 40 single in Germany.

"Can't Remember To Forget You", the comeback single of Shakira, may have not been able to move past the #8 peak but has remained in the top 20 for quite some time to have an impact. The superstar now brings new song "Dare (La La La)" at #45.

The Album Chart

Though there is a real influx of new entries in the top 100, "Farbenspiel", which was crowned album of the year at last week's Echo awards (the German Grammys), of Helene Fischer returns comfortably to the number one slot. It is followed by Unheilig and their "Best Of", while rapper Samy Deluxe is new at #3 with "Maennlich" - his fifth top three album. New at #4 we have Johnny Cash's "Out Among the Stars", while Shakira's "Shakira" moves in at #5, keeping her string of top six albums unharmed since 2001. Also new in the top ten are Michelle's "Die Ultimative Best Of" at #7 and Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa's "Live In Amsterdam" at #8.
