In Bulgarian Cinemas from July 22

Мечо пух / Winnie The Pooh - To be honest, going to the screening of the newest adaptation of the classic novel I was quite prejudiced. I've never liked Pooh and his friends, even when I was a kid I thought (perhaps wrongfully) they were a bunch of idiots. So my expectations were set to the minimum, and, thankfully, I must say that I really enjoyed the latest old-style animation coming from the Disney studio. That, however, doesn't mean that the characters are not a group of naive idiots, but among all their stupidity lies a significant dose of charm, which will cast a spell on the little ones, and why not on one or two of their parents? And if you don't at least smile when the stomach of Pooh "cries" for honey, something is definitely wrong with you. Add to that the way (it's cruel) he treats Piglet, as well as pessimism icon Eeyore and more-than-retarded Owl, and you may have a great fun with this little film. On the plus side, the animation (despite old-fashioned) is great, the way the characters jump all over the pages of the book is imaginative and the scene when all but Piglet are trapped in a hole in the ground is pure comedy... Furthermore, the Bulgarian dubbing is for a change really good. Unfortunately, however, there are too many moments involving Tigger, whose charm and role in this fantastical world is completely lost on me. Hence no four stars. (Forum Film) ***1/2
