German chart comments - Issue date - 29.07.2011

Turning into the definite summer anthem, Alexandra Stan's "Mr. Saxobeat" spends a fourth week on the top of the German singles chart. Once again Pitbull occupies the runner-up slot. Stan's reign may be challenged in the coming weeks by the rising interest in Tim Bendzko's great "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten", which this week goes up three to enter the top three for the first time since its release. We haven't had a German language number one since ages, so Tim's success would be more than welcome.

Just outside the top 10, DJ Antoine's "Welcome To St. Tropez" soars eight positions and lands at #12, a new peak for the song which entered the countdown 17 weeks ago.

In the top 30 let's not forget two new peak positions registered by Katy Perry and her "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" which goes up one to #17, as well as The Black Eyed Peas' "Don't Stop The Party", which inches up also one to #27.

Once again there are no new entries inside the top 30, so that leaves us to "Ick liebe Dir", the peculiar collaboration between German rapper Sido and comedian Mario Barth, which can be found at #33.

Two positions below, Milow brings "Little In The Middle" the follow-up of his extremely and surprisingly successful "You and Me (In My Pocket)" (peak #3). The second single taken from the current album of the Belgian singer makes a respectable new entry but for now is his least performing single in Germany.

Following the misfire of "Cheap Comments" (peak #82), the third single from Beatsteaks' latest album makes it this week to the top 50. Thus "Automatic" lands at #43, just five positions above fellow German band's Jennifer Rostock and their newest single "Mein Mikrofon". Jennifer Rostock has actually never been considerably more successful with only "Du willst mir an die Wäsche" reaching #34 in 2004.

Marquess, the German band with Latino flavour, however has seen far rosier days in the top 100 than the miserable new entry of their latest summer offering "Chapoteo", which this week arrives at #70. The same can also be said to Söhne Mannheims, whose "Freiheit" marks the second least successful single of the guys ever next to "Power of the Sound" ten years ago.

As surprisingly this week's chart is flooded with new entries, here are the remaining ones:

52 Markus Becker feat. Ko & Ko - Helikopter

59 Ina Colada - Dos cervezas por favor Ina Colada

63 Samy Deluxe - Poesie Album

64 Within Temptation - Sinéad

66 Hurts - Better Than Love

76 Tim Toupet - Vater Abraham (… hat 7 Söhne)

92 Adam Hicks, Bridgit Mendler, Hayley Kiyoko & Naomi Scott - Determinate

The Album Chart

Before Amy Winehouse storms the LP chart next week, there is not much going on in the countdown. Adele's "21" returns to the top spot for yet another time, cementing its status as the biggest album of the year. Last week's champion - newcomer rapper Casper retreats surprisingly good, falling to #4 only. The highest new entry is "Time of My Life", the new album of 3 Doors Down, which comes in straight at #2. German carnival favourite band Brings brings its newest LP titled "Dat is Geil" at #7, while (wiki unknowns) Adya enter at #9.
