C'mon, let's storm the BG boxoffice |
There is nothing really going on in this week's boxoffice as Transformers 3 keeps control at the top spot despite a massive fall of 73%, which perhaps is due to its five-day debut a week earlier. So far the Michael Bay-directed spectacle has made BGN 644,658, which is not bad for only two weeks in the cinemas. The movie is now on its way to become the third one-million crosser for its distributor in Bulgaria in 2011, next to Fast Five and Pirates 4. The third instalment has also already surpassed the final results of T1 and T2 combined...
The second position is held by Cars 2, which this week shows a considerable fall of 58% and has the good but not the extraordinary BGN 409,472 so far. Its results are however enough to make it the most successful Pixar movie in Bulgaria ever.
At #3 Bad Teacher collapses with 56% but already has BGN 270,559, which I think is quite enough for several new pair of tits...
A position beneath lands Pirates 4, which shows little signs of fading away and with a fall of 19% is crossing the 2m barrier as we speak.
The first and only new entry of the week (yes, Hollywood is not producing films good enough for our distributors so they have nothing on hand to release) arrives at #5. The Tom Hanks-directed Larry Crowne collects BGN 15,877 over the weekend and BGN 23,923 including a week of previews. An unremarkable result for an unremarkable movie.
The only film to go out of the top 10 is Fast Five, which despite not released in one of the two cinema chains in Bulgaria has managed to collect above BGN 1m in its total run so far. Thus with certainty it is one of the best results (or why not the most spectacular in the past few years) for Universal in Bulgaria. (I love them, you know).
Compared to my last week projections, Larry Crowne came suspiciously close to my BGN 25,000 forecast. (I should try the lottery next)
Next weekend's projections: (the biggest of them all)
Harry Potter 8 - BGN 350,000, including two days of previews
(1 BGN = EUR 0.52 = USD 0.74)
