Войната на боговете / Immortals - Though with a relatively short movie career so far, Tarsem brings his latest title with his usual trademark - more style than substance. But who cares when everything is conveyed properly and when there's an actual, albeit shallow, story to bring the viewer from the beginning to the very end (take point Sucker Punch!). Despite the inevitable comparisons with 300, in fact Immortals has its own flavour and apart from one or two scenes has nothing similar to the Sparta adventures. The scope of the Theseus adventures is considerably smaller than, let's say, Clash of The Titans, but Tarsem delivers every shot enriched with astonishing colours and awesome score. Though Henry (superman) Cavill is solid as the lead character, the meatiest role goes to Mickey Rourke who has amazing time being the villain. It's been awhile since I've seen a really mean and threatening antagonist on the big screen. At the end, however, Immortals is let down by the script and especially the lazy work related to the involvement of the Gods. If Tarsem have played more with the motives behind the immortals' actions, their intrigues and conspiracies, he might have made a superior film. The Greek mythology continues to lack its really thrilling 3D cinema adventure. (Tandem) ***
