German chart comments - Issue date - 5.08.2011

No one can stop Alexandra Stan's "Mr. Saxobeat" to spend a fifth week on the top of the German singles charts, although Tim Bendzko's "Nur noch kurz die Welt retten" is increasing its pressure by advancing a position to #2. The competition is also intensified by one of the summer hits of 2011 as "Danza kuduro" by Lucenzo & Don Omar moves up four to peak at #3.

Further down the top 10,  DJ Antoine vs. Timati's "Welcome to St. Tropez" reaches another milestone as it finally breaks into the top. The summer hit soars six and stands comfortably at #6 in what is (I think) its 18 week in the countdown.

At #16 Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" moves once again by a single slot and by the looks of it will not be able to enter the top 10.

The highest new entry comes in at #17 belonging to Enrique Iglesias, who is continuing his dirty session with "Dirty Dancer". Enrique's collaboration with Usher and Lil Wayne comes after the admittedly low #12 peak of "Tonight".
The big news of course is the return of Amy Winehouse's back catalogue in the Top 100. "Back to black", Amy's biggest hit in Germany albeit from her Mark Ronson collaboration "Valerie" (peak #3), leads the pack as it re-enters at #18. First time around "Back To Black" reached #8.

Here is a list of the remaining Amy's re-entries this week and their peaks:

#71 Amy Winehouse - You know I'm no good, peak #71

Among the non-Amy news, local punk rock band Broilers scores its second ever single in the top 100.  "Wie weit wir gehen" enters new at #28 and arrives after "Harter Weg" debuted at #41 several months ago before disappearing completely just a week afterwards.

Now we have officially entered a period when a single of Britney Spears in the top 50 will be considered an achievement. Thus, "I Wanna Go", the third single taken from Britney's newest album "Femme Fatale", debuts at #32, managing to become her second least successful song in Germany next to the #36 peak of "If You Seek Amy". She however continues to be popular in her native USA...

A position behind Britney, Red Hot Chili Peppers bring their comeback single "The adventures of rain dance Maggie" to the countdown. The song becomes the ninth top 50 single of the band, which strangely continues to have only one top 10 song in the face of "Snow ((Hey Oh))".
Following the mega-success of "Nein, Mann!", which peaked at #5, "Weightless", the second single of dance project Laserkraft 3D stumbles to have the same impact as it arrives at #46 this week.

#58 Darius & Finlay feat. Daz - Here comes the night

#92 Lolita Jolie - Joli garcon

#96 Firefox AK - Boom boom boom
The Album Chart

Contrary to all expectations, Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" failed to score the number one in the LP chart, where it was outperformed by schlager group Die Amigos, whose latest album "Mein Himmel auf Erden" shoots itself straight at #1. Thus "Back To Black" re-enters at #2, burdened maybe by its lower price, which has curbed its chances for a great performance. It still continues to be the best selling album in Germany for 2008 though...
