Monday

Austria's annual inflation rate decreased to 3.2% in December from 3.6% in November due to the so-called basis effects related to the prices of mineral oil and food products. The inflation rate stood at 3.3% for 2011, Statistik Austria said. The harmonised CPI for the euro-zone came in at 3.6% for 2011.

Austrian machinery group Binder+Co has set up a new subsidiary for the marketing of its Bublon technology, the firm said in a statement. The company sees considerable market potential in Europe, USA, Japan and later in China.

Telekom Austria is said to be interested in Vivacom, the second biggest player on the Bulgarian phone market, Die Presse reported. Telekom is already present in the country via market leader Mtel.

Telekom Austria announced that local investor Ronny Pecik has secured control of 20.118% in the company. He holds directly and indirectly 15.018% in the telecommunications provider but has options to buy further 5.1% by June 18.

Tuesday

Schoeller-Bleckmann Oilfield Equipment (SBO) said its EBIT grew to EUR 89m for 2011 from EUR 49.4m for 2010. Sales rose 32% to EUR 407m. The positive development was attributed to the company's market positions and the good conditions in the sector.

Building group Strabag has received a EUR 9.3m order to renovate a road in Moldova. This is the first contract of Strabag in the eastern European country.

Real estate company CA Immo said it will not make new acquisitions in 2012. The company warned against financing problems in eastern Europe but said it would be only indirectly affected by them.

Oberbank said its net profit grew 5.5% to EUR 104m in 2011. Total assets went up 4.5% to EUR 17.5bn. Bank's head Franz Gasselsberger said he is optimistic for 2012 despite the reserved business outlook.

Wednesday

Austrian refractory material maker RHI has raised its stake in Swiss Stopinc to 100% from 50% before. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Austrian construction firms Porr and Alpine Bau are demanding EUR 70m in damages from the Serbian government due to a cancellation of a motorway construction order, Vecernje novosti reported.

Construction material company Wienerberger has issued a bond worth EUR 200m. The bond, with a maturity of 3.5 years, will bear a coupon of 5%.

Austriamicrosystems said its sales rose 32% year-on-year to EUR 275.7m for 2011. For the current year, the company projects growth of 20% in its sales.

Thursday

Vienna Airport said it plans to halve the dividend for 2011 compared to the EUR 2 per share paid for 2010. The move became necessary due to high write-downs and value adjustments. The company serviced 21.1m passengers last year, up 7.2%.

Moody's has reduced its long-term credit rating on Telekom Austria Group to Baa1 from A3 due to expected weak operating performance. The pending investments will also burden the company, the credit agency said. The outlook remains stable.

Austrian circuit board producer AT&S said it has concluded a strategic agreement with US sector player MFLEX Multi-Fineline Electronix. The partnership covers the production of HDI Rigid-Flex circuit boards.

Investor Ronny Pecik has exercised his options for further 5.1% in Telekom Austria. Thus, the investor raised his stake in the firm to 20.103%.
Friday

The works council of Austrian Airlines (AUA) said it would be against considerable payment cuts. The workers of the burdened Lufthansa subsidiary are warning against any threats for insolvency of AUA.

Troubled ÖVAG is no longer structurally relevant for the European bank sector after the sale of its eastern European business, Austria's Financial market authority said. Therefore ÖVAG doesn't need to meet the criteria for capital adequacy made by the European banking sector authority.

The merger between brewery Ottakringer and mineral water company Vöslauer in 2009 will be examined by the court in terms of the share exchange agreement and the related compensation to the minority shareholders.
