Bulgarian Box Office Update - Weekend 30 Dec-2 Jan

Kitty was very keen to learn the BO secrets of Puss
Expectedly the New Year's Eve holiday means that most of the movies from last week retain their Christmas positions, with relatively slow declines. The fact that there were no major new releases also helped.

So Puss In Boots is rapidly making its way towards the BGN 1 million mark and for just two weeks has BGN 706,589. This week the cat adventures fall by just 28% and keep the #1.

Puss is once again closely followed by Sherlock Holmes. The Game of Shadows has attracted the fantastic BGN 489,273 so far and this time slows down with just 17%.

Mission Impossible 4 comes next. The movie has made BGN 604,247, going down by slight 22%.
Due to the titular holiday finally arriving, New Year's Eve saves face (but gains no merits) with a decrease of 24% and BGN 241,419 totally.

Arthur Christmas rounds the top five, with a decline of 36% and some BGN 377,428 in the bag. Happy Feet 2 is once again behind, with BGN 215,311, a fall of 7%.

The only new entry of the week could be found at #7. With just seven screens, One Day manages to draw BGN 11,611 only. Of course a relatively okay romantic film with no strong male lead was never gonna be a hit in a our country.

At #8 Operacia Shmenti Kapeli continues its successful run, up 12% and BGN 1,128,874. Perhaps now it's the time for me to finally go and see it, or maybe not.

The top ten is wrapped up by Jack and Jill (a fall of 43%, BGN 143,080 in total) and Twilight 4.1 (a fall of 13% and BGN 549,429 in total).

The top ten is left by Immortals. The surprising hit has collected the glorious BGN 876,504 and is officially one of the most successful movies backed by no major Hollywood studios in Bulgaria. But with its premise - Greek mythology, 300 references, action, 3D ... it was always destined to be really huge here.

Compared to my last week projections, One Day came somewhere near my BGN 15,000 forecast, while no figures for Ronal The Barbarian were provided at the time of writing.

Next weekend's projections:

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - BGN 75,000 (with previews)
The Darkest Hour - BGN 44,000
50:50 - BGN 25,000 (with previews)

(BGN 1 = USD 0.69/EUR 0.51)
