Междузвездни войни: Епизод 1 - Невидима заплаха / Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace in 3D - A lot was said in the past over the various imperfections of the first Star Wars prequel - from the wooden acting, to the too childish plot and last, but definitely not least, Jar Jar - the most irritating character in movie history ever (TM). And now all this comes in 3D. However, by now you should know what to expect from the film - the effects, the music, the lightsaber battles, Dart Maul are still ace, and though the 3D does nothing to compensate for the other (bad) stuff, when the lights go out and the John Williams theme kicks in, you'll know that there is nothing like Star Wars out there, in the galaxy far away. Моята седмица с Мерилин / My Week With Marilyn - It's always great to see a sweet and small, even intimate, movie like this on the big screen in Bulgaria. And it definitely has a lot on offer - Michelle Williams makes Marilyn the role of her career (and deserves the Oscar), Kenneth Branagh was always destined to play Sir Laurence Olivier, while Dame Judi Dench and even the young protagonist Eddie Redmayne deliver steady performances. The story is also intriguing as Monroe herself was in her short and tragic life, while the set locations are splendid as only a movie shot in the British countryside could be. The problem of the picture, however, lies in the direction. It is too apparent that director Simon Curtis comes from the theatre and TV scene as he fails to truly engage the moviegoers and to carry them away. At the end, these are insignificant problems disappearing the moment Michelle/Monroe starts sparkling on the screen. (Forum Film) *** 1/2
