German chart comments - Issue date - 10.12.2010

So it finally happened! After nine weeks on top of the German singles chart, Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole has retreated from the number one slot. What is more interesting though is that he is replaced there by Empire Of The Sun's "We Are The People", which as mentioned several times before is actually an old song and therefore marks the first time ever when an old song replaces another oldie at the top in Germany.

The highest new entry comes in at #6 and is the latest single of David Guetta. Over the last year and a half Guetta has turned into one of the kings of the chart, with already two top ten hits and one number one in Germany. "Who's That Chick?" sees the French DJ and producer collaborating with superstar Rihanna. The latter this week makes a double feat in the top ten as her own "Only Girl (In The World)" stands at #7.

The second new entry belongs to Far East Movement and charts at #16. "Like A G6" is one of the biggest global hits currently and has already reached #1 in USA. It is the first chart entry of the group in Germany.

A place below Far East Movement enters the newest single from Thomas D. Apart from his glory days as part of Die Fantastischen Vier, Thomas D. has had his solo success in Germany with modern classics such as "Solo" (peak #15), the wonderful "Wish (Komm zu mir)" (peak #5) and "Liebesbrief" (peak #9). "Million Voices (7 Seconds)" samples the number-three smash of Youssou N’Dour and Neneh Cherry "7 Seconds" from 1994.

Further down the top 100, we can see the Christmas singles all moving forward towards the top 20, once again led by Wham! (at #23) and Melanie Thornton (at #43). We also have a relatively low, though unsurprising, new entry from Medina at #59 and a new single from schlager star Buddy at #69.
