German Chart Comments - Issue Date 8.06

It needed 38 years after Abba's "Waterloo" for a non-German Eurovision winner to top the charts in the country. And, coincidently or not, the honour once again goes to a Swedish act. This time around it's Loreen, whose "Euphoria" has stormed the European charts, Germany not an exception. As long as German entries are concerned, more recently Lena's "Satellite" also hit the number one slot.

Thanks to the Eurovision, we have this week Roman Lob's "Standing Still" - the German entry in the contest, shooting itself back in the top 20 at #11 from #39. Surprisingly the song fared decently well in Baku.

Further down the top 100 there are many songs from the show, which also enter the countdown and you can check them below.

In non-Eurovision related news, Daniele Negroni, the runner-up of this year's DSDS, has a second single to his name as "Absolutely Right" enters at #15. His rendition to "winner" song "Don’t Think About Me" peaked at #4.

Though previous singles "You da One" and "Talk That Talk" were not allowed to chart in Germany, Rihanna's latest, and honestly more superior "Where Have You Been" arrives this week at the respected #18.

And the remaining new entries and other interesting chart movements:

27. Laurent Wery feat. Swiftkid & Dev -  Neu Hey Hey Hey (Pop Another Bottle) - It's a first entry for the Belgian DJ in the countdown.

41. Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops (Bigger The Better) - A surprisingly subdued entry for Nelly Furtado, who has had more success in Germany before.

43. Ivi Adamou - La La Love - Surprisingly well done for Cyprus' Eurovision song.

44. Buranovskie Babushki - Party For Everybody - Russia on Eurovision
Live

51. Soluna Samay - Should've Known Better - Denmark on Eurovision

56. Kylie Minogue - Timebomb - A low entry for Kylie but we should have in mind the song is still gearing up in terms of promotion.

58. Triggerfinger - I Follow Rivers - This is an unplugged version of Lykke Li's hit (this week at #9) performed by the Belgian rock band.
Live

62. Jedward - Waterline - Last year things went better for the Irish boys.

65. (up from 86) One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful - Does this really stand the chance to be a hit in Germany in view of all the push?

73. Raffaela Wais - Going Crazy - A second single for the German singer after "Heaven Only Knows" reached #41.

77. Eleftheria Eleftheriou - Aphrodisiac - Go go Greece

92. Mandinga - Zaleilah - The Romanian entry on Eurovison

The Album Chart

Despite the arrival of five new entries inside the top 10, no one is capable to overthrow Die Toten Hosen from the top spot. And the new entries are as follows: Daniele Negroni's "Crazy" at #2; Wise Guys' "Zwei Welten" at #3; Rex Sabaton's "Carolus" at #7; Celo & Abdi's "Hinterhofjargon" at #8 and Melody Gardot's "Absence" at #9.
