Мисията невъзможна: Режим фантом / Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Following this year's Fast Five, Mission Impossible comes to show us that Hollywood is still capable of great popcorn entertainment. The fourth mission has been produced on the wish of Tom Cruise and despite the lacklustre performance of the previous movie (it was rather good though). And we should be thankful to Mr. Cruise, as according to many, Ghost Protocol is perhaps the best in the series. And they had they reasons. First, the fourth part definitely justifies its title - this time around the missions are on the high end of the impossible scale - just watch Ethan Hunt hanging outside the tallest building in the world or making his way inside the Kremlin. At the same time, the new additions to his crew are spot-on. From sexy Paula Patton, through comic relief Simon Pegg to Jeremy Renner. Seeing how Renner handles the role, we should be calm that Jason Bourne is in safe hands come August. Director Brad Bird has done only Pixar stuff so far (Ratatouille and The Incredibles shine of his CV) but that seems to be quite enough to justify his transition to the world of feature films. And last, Ghost Protocol is among those rare movies, which really blossom from the use of Imax technology. Thus, if you have an Imax nearby, don't hesitate, accept the mission as quick as you can. Още нещо за любовта / Something More About Love (Bulgaria) - Though a certain Bulgarian "television" claims 2011 to be the year of the Bulgarian TV series production, the year will definitely also end being one of the richest in terms of local cinema production. The latest proof comes from first-time director Magdalena Ralcheva, who is keen to tell us the real life story of doctor Ivan Rumenov (Kalin Vrachanski) and his encounter with a family with Armenian roots in the city of Varna. However, all Ralcheva's efforts crash under her inability to clearly focus the storytelling. The biggest mistake is to put Kalin Vrachanski in the main role. Yes, he is a popular face but that doesn't translate directly into a great cinema actor. And, unfortunately Vrachanski seems too cold, too distant, too monotonous, too boring in the lead role, as if he is unable to show us any real human emotions. From there, his relationship with photograph Dikran (Simeon Ljutakov) and his key part in Dikran's life feels unbelievable and the viewer is left in front of the screen wondering why he/she should care about these characters. In addition, too many story details and support characters do nothing to help the story. And the man climbing the mountain throughout the whole film can rank among the most useless storytelling methods out there. Perhaps, we could have had a much better movie, if Ralcheva had decided to centre more on the Armenians - the mother, played by Maria Statulova, Dikram and his friends, and especially the mysterious and extremely gorgeous Melvin (in the role Sepide Delforuz) could have been fantastic if they had to deal with a more polished script and a more experienced and brave director. (A+) *1/2
