German Chart Comments - Issue Date 2.12

Following, the somewhat unexpected arrival of "Good Feeling" on the top last week, RiRi has reclaimed the crown in the German singles chart in its latest edition. This makes a fourth non-consecutive week for "We Found Love" as a number one. After debuting at #1, Rihanna was replaced there for a week by Aura Dione's "Geronimo" and in two weeks time Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" also spent a week there. The latter now drops to #5.

At #2 Taio Cruz and his "Hangover" rises from #6 to mark another peak for the hit, while "Geronimo" is down to #3.

Outside the top 10, just a mentioning of Rammstein's "Mein Land", which despite previous trends for the group's singles, has managed to fall by only six positions from #5 to #11.

The rise of Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks" continues and the single goes up five to #15.

In a week with a scarce number of new entries, the highest belongs to Belgian-Australian singer Gotye. His "Somebody That I Used To Know" arrives fresh in the German singles chart after conquering the tops in both Belgium and Australia. A good start for the debutant.

At #27 Menowin, one of the most famous losers of the DSDS casting show, brings his second ever single to the countdown. "Waiting for Christmas" comes after "If You Stayed" peaked at #21.

Three positions behind Menowin, South Korean pianist Yiruma makes his first entry in the commercial singles charts. It's not only rare to see classically inspired tunes in the countdown, but the entry of "River Flows In Me" at #30 also registers the first ever success of an artist from South Korea in Germany. The Twilight connection is not to be underestimated either.

After "Welcome To St. Tropez" ranked among the slowest climbers towards the German singles top ten, it's interesting to see whether "Ma Cherie", the follow-up single by DJ Antoine, will have the same fate. For now, the song advances to #31 from #36.

The forthcoming Christmas holidays also mean that classics such as Wham's "Last Christmas" are due to return to the chart. And so, this week the single re-enters at #51 in its 94 week in the countdown. Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is also back at #75 and a total of 22 weeks, while Melanie Thornton's "Wonderful Dreams" can be found at #97 in its 76 week.

And the remaining new entries with videos and some info:

63. Celine Dion - Pour Que Tu Maimes Encore - It took 16 years and a casting show for Celine's 1995 single to enter the German charts.
68. R.I.O. ft. U-Jean - Animal - A quick follow-up to the surprising #3 hit "Turn This Club Around". Maybe it will rise in the weeks to come.
100. Eichensohn & Davenstedt - FFF

The Album Chart

Despite the flow of strong new entries, Udo Lindenberg's "Unplugged" returns to the top in the LP chart. At #2 comes the latest album of Nickelback, followed by Rihanna's "Talk Talk Talk". Herbert Grönemeyer's "Schiffsverkehr" returns to the countdown at #5, after a release of a DVD with a concert of the star from his summer tour. Also new is Kate Bush's "50 Words For Snow" at #7.
