German Chart Comments - Issue Date 28.09

It's a rare sight to see a song in German to top the charts in the country but now we have exactly that with rapper Marteria bringing his collaboration with Miss Platnum & Yasha directly to number one. "Lila Wolken" is the main song from the singers' EP and tops the chart some four months after "Tage wie diese" of Die Toten Hosen, the last song in German to rule the countdown, was there. A coincidence or not, as a songwriter Marteria has taken part in the creation of several songs from the latest album of Die Toten Hosen, yes, the one that includes "Tage wie diese". Marteria has charted only twice before, with his 2010 single "Verstrahlt" hitting #32.

In another German act-related news, as if Philipp Poisel is always destined to have hits only after they're covered on some casting show. Thus, his "Eiserner Steg" reached #4 earlier this year, after a participant in Voice of Germany sang it, and now "Wie soll ein Mensch das ertragen?", a song from 2010, re-enters at #5. The interest towards it was triggered by a performance on "Das Supertalent" by someone named Jean-Michel Aweh.

Acoustic

Inside the top 20, apart from a small advance of David Guetta's non-official single "Play Hard" at #8, we have a new peak of dance project Klangkarussell and "Sonnentanz" up to #19 from #30.

There's no need to introduce the second highest new entry of the week as the whole world is currently going crazy about "Gangnam Style". Yes, Psy debuts in Germany at #25 before jumping towards the summit in the weeks to come.

At #28 Swedish House Mafia have their first (and probably last) top 30 single in Germany with "Don’t You Worry Child". So far their best performing single was "Save the World" with a peak at #37.
