Джон Картър: Между два свята / John Carter - John Carter comes after somewhat marred publicity campaign and with perhaps too high expectations. The end result is therefore mixed at best. At the one hand, director Andrew Stanton (who makes his live-action debut with this one) has managed to create remembering and living worlds, on the other, the action is far too stiff. The film still enjoys some good chemistry between the two leads - Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins, who, however, are underserved by the ridiculous plot. The latter is the biggest flaw of the film, from which John Carter does not recover until the very end as the writers fail big time to make the conflict on Barsoom making any sense. Oh and Mark Strong is definitely miscast. But at the end, who needs a plot when there are white apes fighting on the arena? (Forum Film) ***

Потомците / The Descendants - The latest movie of director Alexander Payne is more or less a tough watch. Despite the comedy touches at the right places, it is a drama at its heart and more or less a story focused on characters rather than say action. So plot-wise there is nothing special going on, so you should not expect any twists in the story, any surprises or any heart pumping moments. You, however, should expect great performances, heartbreaking story developments and a lot of Hawaiian flavour. George Clooney is perfect in the lead role, while Payne has made yet another film for fans who prefer their movies to be thought provoking. (Alexandra) **** 1/2

Аве / Ave (Bulgaria) - The month of Bulgarian cinema continues with Ave. Go and watch it at your risk. (A Plus Cinema)
