German Chart Comments - Issue Date 8.08

"When The Beat Drops Out" of Marlon Roudette spends a second week sitting comfortably on the summit of the Germany's singles chart, while former number one "Prayer in C" of Lilly Wood & The Prick and Robin Schulz goes up a notch to #2. The honour to complete the top three belongs to Mark Forster and "Au Revoir", down one.

"Sonnentanz" of Klangkarussell started it all two years ago, but the era of the saxophone-electro-jazz hits is far from over with "Wicked Wonderland" of Martin Tungevaag becoming a stellar hit by entering the top ten at #9, up from #16 in its sixth week in the countdown.

Though for a moment it seemed that "Stay With Me" of Sam Smith would, in Germany at least, not be a worthy successor of "Money On My Mind" (peak #11), the song manages to enter the top 20 in its 12th week by climbing from #27 to #15.

The aforementioned Austrian dance project Klangkarussell can finally claim a second top 20 hit as "Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain)" finally breaks the top 20 barrier by moving up to #17 from #26.

"Weinen", the previous offering of Adel Tawil, couldn't go higher than #57, but "Zuhause", Adel's collaboration with Matisyahu is steadily going towards the top 20. It is up nine to #23.

US band Train already have two top ten singles to their credit in Germany, with "Drive By" peaking at #3 in 2012. Now, the boys are back with new material and "Angel In Blue Jeans", heralding the release of "Bulletproof Picasso", enters the chart at #30 to be the highest new entry of the week.

Avicii's "True" album continues to produce hits as fourth single "Lay Me Down" becomes the Swedish start eight top 40 single. It moves six to #35.

British newcomer and former X-Factor participant Ella Henderson already scored #1 in the UK with "Ghost", which is now advancing in its second week in the German chart to #38 from #56. Also on the rise are the Canadian guys from Magic! and their UK and US #1 single "Rude" - up nine to #40. Sia's "Chandelier" also scores a new peak at #41, up from #45.

Comedy duo DieLochis manage to register another top 50 single this week as "Sonnenschein" debuts at #42. Their previous offering "Ich bin blank" remains their best, with a peak at #34.

"Rock Star City Life" was the last single of Lenny Kravitz inside the top 100 (peak #98), now however he is back with new material and directly straight in the top 50. The song in question - "The Chamber" enters at #47.

The LP chart  

There are six albums debuting inside the German top 10 but the most successful of them is "Sommertraeume" of schlager duo Dio Amigos, which shoots straight at #1 to be their fifth number one. The new offering of Eric Clapton & Friends "The Breeze-An Appreciation Of JJ Cale" is at #2, while Helene Fischer's "Farbenspiel" moves down one to #3. Swedish band Blues Pills debuts in the German album chart with "Blues Pills" at #4, while the new LP from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers called "Hypnotic Eye" comes in at #5. The debut album of Klangkarussell bearing the name of current single "Netzwerk" enters at #8 and at #10 we have rapper Baba Saad with "Das Leben ist Saadcore".
