German Chart Comments - Issue Date 10.06.2016

Although he led the chart in the mid-week update on Wednesday, Justin Timberlake fails at the end to maintain the number one slot and falls one to #2 with "Can't Stop The Feeling". The song spent three weeks on top of the countdown. Now, the time has come for French house specialist Kungs and Australia's Cookin' On 3 Burners and their dance anthem "This Girl" to crown the German singles chart. The track has already peaked at #1 in France and Belgium, and is now up one in Germany. Drake feat. WizKid & Kyla stick to #3 with "One Dance".

The Chainsmokers and Daya advance one to #6 with "Don't Let Me Down", followed at #7 by Alle Farben ft. YOUNOTUS and "Please Tell Rosie", up from #16. This is the third top ten single of German DJ Frans Zimmer, who previously reached #9 with "She Moves (Far Away)" and #2 with "Supergirl". As long as YOUNOTUS are concerned, they are a Berlin-based DJ duo, who also helped making "Supergirl" a super hit last year.

Those interested in the German charts, and especially towards the end of the 1990s and the start of the 2000s, should have heard of local hip hop group Absolute Beginner, who had a moderate success with their "Liebes Lied" in 1998 (Peak #11). Lead singer Jan Delay has since then stormed the charts on several occasions but the group is now back under their new name of Beginner to have their first ever top ten hit in the shape of "Ahnma" at #8. It has been 12 years since the band was last in the top 100 with "Morgan Freeman".

"Ain't Your Mama" of Jennifer Lopez is up four to #13 and David Guetta and Zara Larsson enter (as expected) the top 20 with "This One's For You", up ten to #19. For now however the most successful EURO 2016-related song remains Mark Forster's "Wir sind groß" at #12.

Gnash ft. Olivia O'Brien move up five to #21 with "This One's For You", while the second highest new entry belongs to Ali Bumaye and Shindy and their "Sex ohne Grund" at #27. The song marks the best performance of a track of Berlin rapper Ali Bumaye in the chart and coincides with the release of his sophomore album "Rumble in the Jungle", which enters the LP chart at #4.

French singer Imany has already set the charts on fire in eastern Europe and France with the Filatov & Karas Remix of her song "Don't Be So Shy". Now it is time for Germany to dance under the rhythm of the catchy track as it soars from #63 to #31. "Spirits" of The Strumbellas moves up two to #33 and already can be heard on every hit radio station in the country.
