German Chart Comments - Issue Date 13.06

(German music continues to rule, Lana & Linkin Park with top new entries)

The rapper with the panda mask, also known as Cro, spends a comfortable fourth week atop the German singles countdown with "Traum", followed once again by Andreas Bourani and his former chart topper "Auf uns". For a second consecutive week, Mark Forster ft. Sido stick to the bronze with "Au Revoir".

It's up three to five for "Hideaway" and Kiesza, while Jason Derulo scores his sixth top 20 single as "Wiggle" moves up eight to #13. Also on the rise, and for now leading the football-related hits, is the official 2014 Fifa World Cup song "We Are One (Ole Ola)" of Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez. It moves up five to #14.

Michael Jackson's successful team-up with Justin Timberlake on "Love Never Felt So Good" makes it this week inside the top 20 as the song climbs five to #18. This is the first Michael Jackson release to reach the top 20 since "Hold My Hand" peaked at #7 in 2010.

It's also worth noting that "Calm After The Storm" of The Common Linnets, who ranked second in this Eurovison, continues to stick around and this week stands firm at #20, while all other Eurovision songs bar the winner and the German offering are long gone and forgotten.

The biggest new entry can be found at #22 coming from Lana Del Rey. Though "West Coast", the pilot single from Lana's eagerly anticipated second album, does not sets the charts on fire, it has the honour for now to be her third most successful release in the country.

As Linkin Park continue to release the same single/different lyrics/, they continue to have a relatively good time in Germany's Top 100. That's why "Until It's Gone", the second offering of the rockers' "The Hunting Party" LP enters at #24. First single "Guilty All the Same" peaked at #32.

Further down the top 50, Shakira's "Dare (La La La)" advances four to #25, while Ariana Grande's first ever German chart single "Problem" soars sixteen to #34.

The summer has already started and it is time for the Majorca hits to affect the chart. So, there should be no surprised that party-schlager king Mickie Krause brings "Geh mal Bier hol'n - GmBh" inside the top 50, up to #45 from #53.

Following this year's trend for UK dance number ones to be successful in Germany as well, Sigma's "Nobody To Love" rises twelve to #48.

Xavier Naidoo has had a recent success with his cover of Andreas Gabalier's "Amoi seg’ ma uns wieder", peak #12, but now he is back with original material and his latest single "Hört, Hört" starts its chart foray slowly, at #49.

The LP chart

Another week, another German rapper topping the LP chart. This time it is KC Rebell who has the honour with his third album "Rebellution". His previous offering "Banger rebellieren" peaked at #2. Also new straight in the top ten we can find Veritas Maximus, the new band of Kevin Russel of Boehse Onkelz fame, and their debut "Glaube Und Wille" at #5. Following three number one albums, the fifth studio LP of Guano Apes called "Offline" has to do it with #8, while the latest offering of schlager legend Roland Kaiser, named "Seelenbahnen" enters at #10.
