German Chart Comments - Issue Date 7.09

Asaf Avidan spends a full month on top of the German charts with his "One Day", while this week for a change we have a new entry straight at #2. Xavas may sound new to some of you but it is actually the joint project of local megastars Xavier Naidoo and Kool Savas. With "Schau nicht mehr zurück" Xavier and Kool will participate in the latest edition of the local Bundesvision contest (something like provincial Eurovision) at the end of September. Solo Naidoo was last in the charts with "Bitte hör nicht auf zu träumen (live)" (peak #22) in 2010 (he of course has #1s with "Das hat die Welt noch nicht gesehen", "Danke" and "Ich kenne nichts (das so schön ist wie du)"). Kool Savas was last in the top 100 with "Aura" (peak #14). His most successful single is "All 4 One" (peak #4).

David Guetta continues his streak of top ten hits (apart from "I Can Only Imagine", all his singles from "Who’s That Chick?" till now have reached the first ten) with "She Wolf (Falling to Pieces)" new at #4. Guetta's previous collaboration with Sia "Titanium" reached #5, standing for 53 weeks in the countdown.

Alanis Morissette may be long forgotten in other music markets, but her comeback single "Guardian" makes great business in Germany and this week reaches a new peak #13. It is easily her second best single in the country after "Ironic" peaked at #8 in the 90s.

After providing vocals for Max Herre's "Wolke 7" (this week at #8), Philipp Poisel brings "fresh" material in the top 100. "Wie soll ein Mensh das ertragen" is new at #40 after "Ich will nur" peaked at #36 several weeks ago.
