German Chart Comments - Issue Date 19.09

Though this week we have some movement in the better part of the German singles chart, David Guetta and Sam Martin are undisturbed at the top with their dance anthem "Lovers on the Sun" standing there for a sixth week in a row. It is once again followed by Marlon Roudette's "When the Beat Drops Out" at #2. Fresh wind in the top three comes at #3 where "Ghost" of Ella Henderson rises two, to become the first big hit of the former participant of X Factor UK.

At #9, up from #21, Cro registers his sixth (out of six) top ten singles with "Bad Chick".

I am a little surprised by the success in Germany of "Giant In My Heart", the follow-up to "Hideaway", the massive hit of Kiesza (peak #5) as the wonderful song debuts this week at #11 to be the highest new entry.

Three positions behind, and also hot on the heels of the enormously successful "Summer" (peak #3), Calvin Harris cements his superstar status with his latest "Blame" coming in at #14. It is a collaboration with John Newman and becomes the fourth single of Calvin as a lead artist to enter the German top 20.

Taylor Swift may be huge elsewhere but it is only now, thanks to current hit "Shake It Off", that she has a second top 20 single in the country. Her only foray in the upper reaches in the chart so far has been "I Knew You Were Trouble", which reached #9. "Shake It Off" rises from #33 to #19.

Newcomers and I guess Internet stars Taddl & Marley bring two new entries inside the top 50 this week. The first one, under the name of "Roadin", is at #22 and the second - "Mula" at #42.

At #24, an increase from #41, heading towards the top 20 is Meghan Trainor and her "All About That Bass", while Jess Glynne, who already has had two top ten hits in Germany by providing vocals to "Rather Be" of Clean Bandit and "My Love" of Route 94, makes her solo debut with "Right Here", which lands at #25.

The next new entry at #35 meets Robin Schulz, the top electronic music producer currently, with Alligatoah, one of the successful newcomers on Germany's hip hop scene for the last year and a half. This time Schulz has made a remix of "Willst du", the most notorious hit of Alligatoah, whose original version reached #14 and stayed in the top 50 for months.

Rea Garvey is back with the second single from his "Pride" LP. "Oh My Love" comes eight positions behind the #32 peak of "Can’t Say No". It is the sixth top 40 solo single of Rea.

"This Is How We Do" of Katy Perry advances one to #45, while "Habits (Stay High)" of Tove Lo finally makes it inside the top 50 after months hovering just outside of it. The song is up seven to #50.
