German Chart Comments - Issue Date 22.07.2016

It's a third week on top for Imany and "Don't Be So Shy", followed once again by Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners and "This Girl", with the two tracks competing for being the definite anthem of summer 2016. Also in the running is Alle Farben feat. YOUNOTUS and "Please Tell Rosie", with the song inching up one to join the top three for the first time. Last year Alle Farben (or Frans Zimmer) and YOUNOTUS already had a top-three hit in the shape of "Supergirl", the new take on the Reamonn's modern classic with the participation of Anna Naklab, which peaked at #2.
At #5, up two, we can find "Ain't Your Mama" of Jennifer Lopez, which believe it or not becomes the third most successful single of the superstar in Germany (in terms of chart positions) by matching the #5 peak of her debut "If You Have My Love". She was only once higher than that - in 2011 with #1 smash "On The Floor".
Swedish dance duo Galantis score their first ever top-ten hit in Germany with "No Money" as the song moves up one to #10 in its 13th week in the chart.
Watch - Galantis
Also on their way up we have "Sing Me To Sleep" of Alan Walker, up six to #12, and "Treat You Better" of Shawn Mendes, up eleven to #13.
For a change this week we have a new entry directly inside the top 20. It belongs to local rapper Shindy, who is ready with his fourth solo album. The pilot single is called "Roli" and arrives at #14, to become Shindy's most successful song so far, beating the #19 peak of "Stress ohne Grund" from 2013.
Canadian band The Strumbellas finally go inside the top 20 with "Spirits" climbing five to #18 in its tenth week. Enrique Iglesias also joins the top 20 with his latest offering "Duele el Corazon". It rises seven to #20 and is thus his 14th top-20 single in Germany.
Watch - The Strumbellas
Mike Perry's "The Ocean", up four to #21, and Robin Shulz' "Heatwave", up three to #30, also mark new peak positions this week. Robin's colleague Felix Jaehn has released a new single with "Bonfire" (feat. Alma) coming in at #32.
At #34, up from #56, US metal band Disturbed reverse the downward trend of their hit "Sound of Silence", which has finally made the guys famous around the globe after being active for more or less 20 years. Of course, the song covers Simon & Garfunkel's classic from 1965, which had reached #9 in Germany in the old chart days.
The Other New Entries:
#40. Bonez MC & RAF Camora - Palmen aus Plastik
#71. Britney Spears ft. G-Eazy - Make Me

In the Album Chart local singer Laith Al-Deen debuts directly at the top with his new album "Bleib unterwegs" - his second offering so far to crown the LP countdown. Also new inside the top five we can find Alvaro Soler and his debut album "Eterno Agosto", home of summer hit "Sofia", at #5.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 8.07.2016

It was expected in the last few weeks and now the time for Imany's summer anthem "Don’t Be So Shy" to finally crown the German singles chart has come. The song, remixed by Russian DJs Filatov and Karas, rises one to #1 to add Germany to the list of European countries whose charts have already been taken over, including France (peak #2) and most of eastern Europe. It is the first ever song of the French singer to enter the German top 100.
Watch - Imany

This leaves "This Girl" of Kungs Vs. Cookin' On 3 Burner down one to #2 after being at the summit for three non-consecutive weeks, while the top three is completed by David Guetta feat. Zara Larsson and "This One's For You", which stick to #3.

It's good to see Jennifer Lopez back in the top ten as her "Ain't Your Mama" rises three to #8. It becomes the ninth top ten single of the superstar in Germany after she was last that high in 2014 with her Pitbull collaboration "We Are One (Ole Ole)" (peak #6).

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 17.06.2016

The football fever has taken control all over Europe and this is more than obvious in this week's German singles chart. Thus, David Guetta and Zara Larsson soar 18 positions to claim the number one slot with the Euro 2016 hymn "This One's For You". Germany has already seen football-related songs being #1 many times before, while the latest marks the fourth David Guetta song to reach the top next to "Sexy Bitch", "Lovers On The Sun" and "Dangerous". Zara Larsson came close to number one last year with her debut in Germany "Lush Life" peaking at #4.
At #2 and also boosted by its connection to the football tournament we can find Max Giesinger's "80 Millionen", which last week was at #25. This is by far the biggest success of Max, who became known via The Voice Of Germany.
Last week's #1, "This Girl" of Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners, slips two to #3.
Also new inside the top ten, at #5, is "Wir sind groß" of Mark Forster, up from #12, as the song is used by TV ZDF to soundtrack the football matches. This is Mark's second top ten single as a lead artist after "Au revoir" reached #2 in 2014.
"Ain't Your Mama" of Jennifer Lopez continues its upward trend and is up this time two to #11. Imany makes it to the top 20 with her smash "Don't Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix)" climbing from #31 to #13. We can expect the track to be in the top ten in the next weeks. Also joining the top 20 is "I Hate U, I Love U" of Gnash ft. Olivia O'Brien, it goes up three to #18.
Felix Jaehn & Herbert Grönemeyer and their collaboration called "Jeder für Jeden" benefit from both being used as an anthem for Euro 2016 and from finally having a video. It skyrockets from #71 to #27.
Drake ft. Rihanna and "Too Good" rise two to #30, while The Strumbellas and "Spirits" are also up two to #31. German hip-hop duo 257ers have its second top 40 single in the shape of "Holland". The song climbs to #35 from #46. In 2014 their single "Baby du riechst" peaked at #14.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 10.06.2016

Although he led the chart in the mid-week update on Wednesday, Justin Timberlake fails at the end to maintain the number one slot and falls one to #2 with "Can't Stop The Feeling". The song spent three weeks on top of the countdown. Now, the time has come for French house specialist Kungs and Australia's Cookin' On 3 Burners and their dance anthem "This Girl" to crown the German singles chart. The track has already peaked at #1 in France and Belgium, and is now up one in Germany. Drake feat. WizKid & Kyla stick to #3 with "One Dance".

The Chainsmokers and Daya advance one to #6 with "Don't Let Me Down", followed at #7 by Alle Farben ft. YOUNOTUS and "Please Tell Rosie", up from #16. This is the third top ten single of German DJ Frans Zimmer, who previously reached #9 with "She Moves (Far Away)" and #2 with "Supergirl". As long as YOUNOTUS are concerned, they are a Berlin-based DJ duo, who also helped making "Supergirl" a super hit last year.

Those interested in the German charts, and especially towards the end of the 1990s and the start of the 2000s, should have heard of local hip hop group Absolute Beginner, who had a moderate success with their "Liebes Lied" in 1998 (Peak #11). Lead singer Jan Delay has since then stormed the charts on several occasions but the group is now back under their new name of Beginner to have their first ever top ten hit in the shape of "Ahnma" at #8. It has been 12 years since the band was last in the top 100 with "Morgan Freeman".

"Ain't Your Mama" of Jennifer Lopez is up four to #13 and David Guetta and Zara Larsson enter (as expected) the top 20 with "This One's For You", up ten to #19. For now however the most successful EURO 2016-related song remains Mark Forster's "Wir sind groß" at #12.

Gnash ft. Olivia O'Brien move up five to #21 with "This One's For You", while the second highest new entry belongs to Ali Bumaye and Shindy and their "Sex ohne Grund" at #27. The song marks the best performance of a track of Berlin rapper Ali Bumaye in the chart and coincides with the release of his sophomore album "Rumble in the Jungle", which enters the LP chart at #4.
Watch - Ali Bumaye

French singer Imany has already set the charts on fire in eastern Europe and France with the Filatov & Karas Remix of her song "Don't Be So Shy". Now it is time for Germany to dance under the rhythm of the catchy track as it soars from #63 to #31. "Spirits" of The Strumbellas moves up two to #33 and already can be heard on every hit radio station in the country.
Watch - The Strumbellas

And finally, Alan Walker, who was responsible for "Faded", the biggest hit of the year so far, is ready with his second single. "Sing Me To Sleep", which once again features the vocals of Iselin Solheim, comes in at #39.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 27.05.2016

Justin Timberlake spends a second week as Germany's #1 single with his catchy and feelgood anthem "Can't Stop The Feeling!". Justin has also provided vocals to number-one smashes "Where Is The Love" of Black Eyed Peas and "4 Minutes" of Madonna.

Superstar Jennifer Lopez hasn't got a proper hit in Germany since her Pitbull collaboration "We Are One (Ole Ola)" reached #6 in 2014. Perhaps this is gonna change with "Ain't Your Mama" rising ten to #25, promising a return to reform for miss Lopez.
Gnash's "I Hate U, I Love U" enters the top 30 at #27, up from #36, becoming the first ever hit of the US musician.

Although Drake's "One Dance" is still in the top three, "Too Good", the Canadian rapper's second offering from his current album, is already making waves as it soars to #36 from #53.
