Controversial local rapper Shindy
finds himself this week not only at #1 in the LP chart but is also
credited with the highest new entry in the singles chart with "Stress
ohne Grund" at #19. The collaboration with Bushido is the first song of
Shindy as a lead artist to enter the countdown, though he had taken part
in another Bushido song as well as in the "Finale wir kommen" single of Kay One (peak #29 in 2012).

The Album Chart
Before I finished my comments it had become clear that Shindy's "NWA", the debut album of the aforementioned rapper, is going to chart for only a week as it was banned from the chart due to too offensive lyrics. Why it is banned in its second week is not exactly clear but that is enough for Shindy to spend a week at #1 before disappearing completely from the next chart. Also new at #2 is Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" - the first album of Thicke to enter the top 100, while Pet Shop Boys' latest, called "Electric", enters at #3.

It took only three weeks for Avicii's "Wake Me Up"
to climb to the number one slot in Germany as the song rises two and
replaces Cro's "Whatever" there. After a week at #1, the panda rapper is
down to three, while Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" is still at #2.

One of the most surprising hits in Germany this summer, "La La La" by Naughty Boy and Sam Smith advances four and is now at #5, while Fergie's "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)" makes it (also surprisingly) inside the top ten as it climbs six positions to #10. As a solo singer Fergie has been in the top ten twice so far, last with "Big Girls Don’t Cry" (peak #6) in 2007.

Somewhat unexpectedly, the biggest new hit of the week comes from Jessie J and her comeback single "Wild". The song debuts at #12 and marks the third time the British singer has appeared inside the top 20. Her biggest hit remains "Price Tag", which peaked at #3. She also provided guest vocals to James Morrison's #19-song "Up".

Up four to #19, Bruno Mars' "Treasure" enters the top 20, becoming the second single from his sophomore album to do so ("Locked Out of Heaven" peaked at #7 and "When I Was Your Man" at #23). This is Mars' seventh (out of eight) singles to reach the top 20 in country.

Further down the list, there are new peaks by Alex Hupburn's "Under" at #34 and Jason Derulo's "The Other Side" at #35 as the two songs move up by one position. In his second week, John Newman climbs seven to #36 with "Love Me Again".

Hip-hop duo Genetikk have reversed the downward trend and this week "Liebs oder lass es" recoups eight to #37. New at #38 is the new single of Jay-Z, with the support of Justin Timberlake. After becoming one of the biggest stars in Germany for less than a year,
with a pair of number two hits on his back, it is not strange to see
local rapper Cro having his first number one with "Whatever". The song,
which will feature in a new edition of the debut album of the man with the
panda mask, shoots directly to the #1 slot, removing Robin Thicke's
"Blurred Lines" to #2 after four weeks at the summit.

After leaving the top ten for a week, Bastille's "Pompeii" recoups six places and peaks at #6 this time around.

French DJ superstar Martin Solveig has had troubles to bring a worthy successor to his #5 anthem "Hello" in Germany but now he is on the right course as his collaboration with The Cataracs becomes his second single to enter the top 30. "Hey Now" appears at #24.
Video
Jason Derulo's "The Other Side" finally makes it this week inside the top 40 by rising to #36 from #47. It is the seventh track of the US star to enter the top 40 but is still a far cry from his biggest hits.

After "Bring Back the Love" flopped at #98 earlier this year, Swiss DJ Mike Candys is back on better form as his latest material called "Everybody" debuts at #40, becoming the sixth single of Candys inside the German top 50.

Coinciding with his foray on top of the UK charts this week, John Newman makes a welcome new entry in Germany with the great "Love Me Again" at #43. Previously he provided vocals for Rudimental's "Feel the Love" which reached #59.

Mika hasn't been in the top 100 since his "Kick Ass" anthem from 2010 and though his latest album "The Origin Of Love" was released in September 2012, the first song from it to appear in the chart did so last week. Now "Underwater" rises to #46 from #57, becoming the seventh single of the singer, who undeservingly was long forgotten elsewhere, in the top 50.

Armin van Buuren may be one of the most famous DJs worldwide, but his chart career has definitely not mirrored his success in the clubs so far. In 2002 his "The Sound of Goodbye" peaked at #52 but it needed 11 years for a second single on his account to enter the top 100 and now the top 50 as "This Is What It Feels Like" rises eight to #47.

It's a fourth week for Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" on the top in
Germany, once again followed by Daft Punk's "Get Lucky". The top three
is completed by OneRepublic's (amazing) "Counting Stars", which moves up
three and becomes the best performing single of the group since
"Secrets" from 2009. And having in mind it is the third single from
OneRepublic's latest LP and does not feature in any local movie
soundtrack, this is a real accomplishment.

Not much going on in the rest of the top ten with just outside of it, at #11, Tom Odell scores his first top 20 hit with "Another Love" which rises 19 positions. Fergie also continues her climb as "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)" is up two to #13.

After "I Could Be the One" couldn't advance higher than #37, Avicii is back on form as his "Wake Me Up!" storms the countdown at #16. The song, which features the vocals of Aloe "I Need a Dollar" Blacc, is still to gain in promotion and by the looks of it (or more precisely by the sound of it), the single is going to be massive. It becomes the second most successful track of the Swedish producer after "Levels" peaked at #6.
Lyric Video
The second new entry comes a position behind Avicii and is credited to Cpt. German Chart Comments - Issue Date 14.06
Expectedly, Robin Thicke has his first ever number one in Germany this
week with "Blurred Lines", which rises one to claim the summit from Daft
Punk. "Get Lucky" is thus now at #2 after spending two weeks on top, while
Capital Cities' "Safe And Sound" continues to stick at #3.

The highest new entry comes just outside the top three, belonging to German rapper Prince Kay One. Just as Kay One, the singer had a top ten hit, supporting Bushido's "Fackeln im Wind" from 2010, while as a lead musician "V.I.P." is easily Kay One's biggest song to date. It comes with the support of The Product G&B, who have completely disappeared after Santana's number one "Maria Maria" from 2000.

Though it seemed that Psy's "Gentleman" would quickly burn out, the song finds some internal strength and shoots this week back in the top 20, to #12 from #25.

The second new entry comes also from a German rapper. Yasha had a huge success with "Lila Wolken", where he provided a helping hand to Marteria and Miss Platnum, with the hit reaching #1 at the end of last year. Now, he is back solo as "Strand" debuts at #19.
Up five to #21 OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" advances towards the top 20, while in its second week Bruno Mars' "Treasure" soars to #25 from #91. The two songs are the third singles from OneRepublic's and Mars' current LPs.

Fergie was last in the top 30 as a lead artist back in 2007 with "Big Girls Don’t Cry" - a situation which now changes as "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)" from the Great Gatsby soundtrack moves three to #29.
Lyric Video
At #36 Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull move up a place from #37, while Rihanna's next official single - "Right Now", a collaboration with David Guetta (who else?), is up five to #43.

Up two to #44 is Duke Dumont and his "Need U (100 %)", while at #50 Lana Del Rey barely makes it in the top 50 with its Great Gatsby anthem "Young & Beautiful". Thus she has an unharmed string of top 50 singles in the country, though her previous three never made it inside the top 40.

The Album Chart
The dominance of German artists in the LP chart continues for yet another week as Xavier Naidoo scores his fifth number one album with "Bei meiner Seele". He is followed by Beatrice Egli, Tim Bendzko, Sportfreunde Stiller and Santiano in a perfectly looking German top five. The second new entry comes in the shape of "...Like Clockwork", the latest album of Queens Of The Stone Age at #7. The debut album of local newcomer Maxim, called "Staub", enters the chart at #10.
