Although Alan Walker stands at the top for the tenth consecutive week with "Faded", his reign may soon be over as Sia's "Cheap Thrills" moves one step closer to the summit and can be found at #2. It is now officially the best performing single with participation of the Australian singer in Germany. This means that Stereoact and Kerstin Ott have to finally give up the runner-up slot after being there for the amazing seven weeks.
Further down the top twenty, Fifth Harmony climb one to seven with "Work From Home", while Mark Forster's "Wir sind gross" goes up two to #11 in its second week in the countdown. Also up two to #12 is "No" of Meghan Trainor, while The Chainsmokers and "Don't Let Me Down" register a new peak at #14, an increase from #16.
As it was expected Era Istrefi's "Bonbon" and DNCE's "Cake By The Ocean" penetrate the top 20 this week with aplomb, the former is at #15 (last week #21) and the latter at #18 (last week #24).
The highest new entry belongs to Drake's current UK number one smash "One Dance", which in Germany arrives at #24. Drake's solo efforts have started to gain attention in the country only in the last few months as his previous "proper" release "Hotline Bling" had reached #18 staying for 27 weeks in the top 100. Of course we should not overlook his credit on Rihanna's "Work", which is still huge and this week is located at #16.
Although Nena's current album "Oldschool" came to the market last year, it has so far failed to bring any hits to the singles chart. The situation may be changed as the German icon is back to the top 30 for the first time since 2010 with the great "Genau jetzt" new at #27.
Irish alternative rock band Walking On Cars are on their way to have their first hit ever in Germany as "Speeding Cars" goes up fourteen to #28, proving that Germans continue to love radio friendly rock tunes.
Max Giesinger, who some of you may remember as the winner of the Voice of Germany in 2011 (I don't), rises this week from #53 to #37 with his new offering called "80 Millionen". The singer already had a top 20 single with "Dach der Welt" in early 2012, which I also have completely forgotten. Maybe this can be attributed to the fact that the song spent only three weeks in the top 100... Nevertheless, his comeback is worthy to be checked out.

The Album Chart
So no prizes for those who have already guessed who is the new number one in the LP chart. The honour goes of course to schlager legend Andrea Berg who manages to score the ninth number one album in her career as "Seelenbeben" was always destined to be one of the bestsellers of the year. Since 2001 and "Machtlos" all studio albums of Andrea have hit the top spot before spending gazillions of weeks in the chart. Also new in the top five is the latest offering of Berg's schlager colleague Beatrice Egli, who has gained popularity by winning the Deutschland sucht den Superstar contest of Dieter Bohlen, who is also the producer of Berg's new album... "Kick im Augenblick" debuts at #3.
Despite that Alan Walker's (now massive) "Faded" spends its ninth week atop the German singles countdown and that Stereoact's "Die immer lacht" is still at #2, we finally have new blood in the top three in the face of Sia's "Cheap Thrills". The song moves up one to #3, to match the peak position of "She Wolf", the hit of David Guetta to which Sia provided vocals way back in 2012 and which has so far been her most successful chart credit in Germany.
Further down the top ten, Mike Posner's "I Took A Pill In Ibiza" inches up one to #5, while Fifth Harmony score their first top ten in the country as "Work From Home" advances three to #8. It has been awhile since we had a female band inside the top ten in Germany.
It has also been several weeks since we witnessed a new entry in the upper reaches of the chart and now we can thank to local star Mark Forster for bringing a fresh track directly into the top 20. The (great) song in question is called "Wir sind Groß" and arrives at #13, to be Mark's four top 20 hit as a lead artist. It is also the first single offering from the singer's third album and comes on the heels of his biggest hits "Au revoir" (#2), "Flash mich" (#11) and "Bauch und Kopf" (#15). We should also not overlook Mark Forster's vocal participation to the EFF project and its huge hit "Stimme", which was #1 at the start of the year.
No one can say "No" to Meghan Trainor as the single enters the top 20 at #14, an increase from #27, while The Chainsmokers have their most successful single in the country (in terms of chart placement at least) with "Don't Let Me Down". The song, which features the vocals of US singer Daya, soars fourteen to #16.
As expected last week "Bonbon" of Era Istrefi and "Cake By The Ocean" of DNCE are slowly turning into one of the hits of the spring season, with the former rising sixteen to #21 and the latter five to #24.
And finally, let's spare a thought for "Get Ugly" of Jason Derulo, which registers a new peak position by moving up seventeen to #38.

Contrary to all the controversy which surrounded Xavier Naidoo and his now notorious attempt to present the country at the Eurovision, Germans continue to love one of their best singers as his latest album "Nicht von dieser Welt 2" debuts at #1. Thus, Xavier has an unharmed series of seven #1 albums which can be traced way back to 1998 and the first "Nicht von dieser Welt". And if we add his participation to the Söhne Mannheims project or to the extremely successful TV show "Sing meinen Song", the influence of Xavier on the German music scene is really more than enormous. Legendary duo Pet Shop Boys celebrate their 30th career anniversary with a new album called "Super" arriving at #3. Apart from their debut in 1986, all of their albums have now found a position inside the top ten of the German LP chart.
So for the fifth consecutive week, Germany's top three remains intact, with Alan Walker's "Faded" leading the parade for eight weeks at #1. "Die immer lacht" of Stereoact and Kerstin Ott is at #2 and Twenty One Pilots are at #3 with "Stressed Out".
Sia's "Cheap Thrills" sits comfortably at #4, being the most successful single of the singer as a lead artist, while also turning into his best performance ever - "I Took A Pill In Ibiza" and its SeeB remix of Mike Posner rises one to #6.
The girls from Fifth Harmony are on their way to have their first ever top ten single as "Work from Home" advances eight to #11.
After a steady climb for 24 weeks Zara Larsson & MNEK finally enter the top 20 with "Never Forget You", up three to #20. The top 30 sees two songs of The Chainsmokers registering new peaks - "Roses" up six to #24 and the latest offering of the dance duo "Don't Let Me Down", up five to #30.
Meghan Trainor, the US supernova that brought "All About The Bass" to #1 and "Lips Are Movin'" to #10 two years ago, is back with new material. "No" is the first single taken from Meghan's sophomore album and it enters the top 30 this week at #27, up from #45. Meghan last provided vocals to "Marvin Gaye", the hit of Charlie Puth, which in Germany reached #15.
Although Nick Jonas, one of the Jonas Brothers, launched his quite successful solo career two years ago, Germany actually did not notice at all with none of his global hits entering the charts. The situation is a little bit different with his brother Joe Jonas and his band called DNCE. Their smash "Cake By The Ocean" moves this week up 23 positions and lands at #29.
British singer Birdy, who had huge hits with "People Help People" (peak #3) and "Wings" (peak #15) several years ago, returns this week to the top 40 with "Keeping Your Head Up". The track rises to #34 from #48.
Albanian newcomer Era Istrefi is about to storm the European charts with her cool hit "Bonbon", with Germany one of the first countries to pay attention as the song moves up seventeen to #37.

Seven new releases enter the top ten this week, led by Swedish metal band Amon Amarth and their first ever chart topper "Jomsviking". The "Best of" of schlager legend Ronny is new at #2, while "Blues of Desperation" of Joe Bonamassa is at #3. Germany continues to not care so much about One Direction and its former members as Zayn's solo album "Mind of Mine" manages to debut as low as #9. A special note also to jazz singer Roger Cicero, whose sudden death shocked Germany's music world and has triggered interest in his back catalogue. Thus "Cicero Sings Sinatra" re-enters at #11, to be one of five offerings of the musician to appear in the top 100 this week. "Männersachen", which can be considered his most successful album, is back at #96.

For better or worse the German singles chart continues to be quite stable, with positions number one to three remaining the same for a third week in a row. So the parade is once again led by Alan Walker and "Faded" (six weeks @ #1), Stereoact and Kerstin Ott are at #2 with "Die immer lacht", while Twenty One Pilots and "Stressed Out" stick to #3.
The only fresh wind inside the top ten belongs to Sia and "Cheap Thrills". The song moves up six to #6, thus becoming the most successful single of the Australian singer as a lead artist in Germany. In the song remix Sia gets support by Sean Paul, who despite being extremely popular in the country was last inside the top ten in 2013.
At #6 G-Eazy and Bebe Rexha rise one to register a new peak of "Me, Myself & I".
Rising four to #18, Coldplay score their ninth top 20 single in Germany with "Hymn For The Weekend". In their 22nd week in the chart Zara Larsson and Mnek climb four to #24 with "Never Forget You", while Fifth Harmony's "Work from Home" goes up to #29 from #41 where it debuted a week earlier.
The highest new entry comes from Ariana Grande and her latest release "Dangerous Woman". The title track of Ariana's still-to-be-released third album arrives at #30, after "Focus" peaked at #18 and spent 13 weeks in the chart last year.

In the Albums countdown the soundtrack to local teen film "Mädchen gegen Jungs", the third part of the "Bibi & Tina" series, spends a second week atop the top 100. The last soundtrack to have been more than a week on top of the German albums chart was that of "8 Mile" from 2003. Five years after their previous studio offering reached #2, 3 Doors Down are back with new material. "Us and the Night" debuts at #5. Also new inside the top ten we have German band Luxuslärm and "Fallen und fliegen" at #9.
For a second week in a row we have a completely unchanged top three in Germany with Alan Walker spending his fifth week as the number single in Germany with "Faded". It is followed by Stereoact's "Die immer lacht" at #2 and Twenty One Pilots' "Stressed Out" at #3.
"Cheap Thrills", the latest offering of Sia, is fast on its way to become the Australian singer's biggest solo singer in Germany as it soars sixteen positions and arrives this week at #12.
Also on its way up is dance project Topic ft. Nico Santos and "Home", up five to #14. As expected by many, including me, Mike Posner scores his biggest hit in Germany with the SeeB remix of "I Took A Pill In Ibiza". The dance anthem moves up fifteen to enter the top 20 at #19, beating the #22 peak of Posner's 2012 debut "Cooler Than Me".
Up seven to #22 are Coldplay with "Hymn for the Weekend". The Chinsmokers bring a new track inside the top 100 this week with "Don't Let Me Down" at #62, while at the same time their current hit "Roses" inches up one to a new peak at #30.
The highest new entry can be located as low as #41 belonging to US girl group Fifth Harmony. "Work From Home" is the second track of the girls to enter the German top 100 after "Worth It" peaked at #16 in 2015, spending a total of 32 weeks in the chart.

In the Albums countdown the soundtrack to local teen film "Mädchen gegen Jungs", the third part of the "Bibi & Tina" series has managed to take the crown after debuting in the top ten eight weeks ago. It thus becomes the most successful soundtrack of the series. Berlin rapper Megaloh has to be content with the #2 slot where he debuts with his second album "Regenmacher". The schlager scene is represented this week by Wolfgang Petry and his best-of compilation "40 Jahre – 40 Hits" at #7, followed by Swedish metal band Sabaton with "Heroes on Tour" at #8.
No changes in the top three this week in what is more or less a stable countdown as a whole. Thus, Alan Walker makes a full month as Germany's #1 with "Faded", followed by "Die immer lacht" of Stereoact and the vocals of Kerstin Ott. US duo Twenty One Pilots are once again at #3 with "Stressed Out".
Rihanna and Drake are working their way towards the top, by moving up one to #5 with "Work", while Jamie-Lee Kriewitz, the winner of The Voice of Germany from the end of 2015, soars to #12 from #65 with "Ghost". As this has been the winning song of the pop contest, it first reached #11 a week or so after the show, before fading quickly away. Its current resurrection is related to the decision of Germans to select the single as their presentation at this year's Eurovision in Sweden. I may be the only one but for me the track resembles last year's German entry of (the long forgotten) Ann Sophie, which let's face it, did not fare that well (it ranked last).
"My House" of Flo Rida rises five to #16, to become his 12th top 20 single as a lead artist in Germany.
Topic ft. Nico Santos make a new peak at #19 with "Home", while we can find the highest new entry of the week at #26. "Durch die schweren Zeiten" marks the return of legendary German musician Udo Lindenberg to the chart, as the veteran rocker is ready with his next studio album "Stärker als die Zeit" and this is the first offering from it. Udo's previous singles to rank that high were those taken out of his MTV Unplugged album from 2011.
I've written it before but Australian singer Sia's solo singles have never been a huge thing in Germany (excluding "Chandelier" (peak #10)) as she has brought only four of them inside the top 100. The fourth in question is called "Cheap Thrills" and manages to rise this week by 18 positions to #28. It eclipses the #29 peak of "Elastic Heart" from 2013.
Further down the top 40, there are new peaks registered by Coldplay's "Hymn For The Weekend", up two to #29, The Chainsmokers' "Roses", up one to #31, Mike Posner's "I Took A Pill In Ibiza", up three to #34, and The BossHoss' "Jolene", up three to #35.
