Despite its slow start in the autumn and the fact that it is the third official single from the "Motion" album of Calvin Harris, "Outside", his second collaboration with Ellie Goulding, manages to outrun this week's competition and to become the first number one single of the British star in Germany. Of course, Calvin Harris has already been at #1 but only as the man behind Rihanna's smash "We Found Love". Thus "Outside" rises five to replace "Walk" of Kwabs at the summit. The latter moves down one to #2 after only a week at the top. Up one, and returning to the top three is James Howard Newton's "The Hanging Tree" with the vocals of Jennifer Lawrence. The song has now a new trendy pop remix, so don't expect it to fade away soon.

The highest new entry belongs to local newcomer Ado Kojo and his debut single "Du liebst mich nicht" at #6. The R&B singer from Cologne got support from famous YouTube star Shirin David for this cover of the #1 hit of Sabrina Setlur (remember her?) from 1997.

Mark Ronson expectedly scores his second top ten single in Germany as "Uptown Funk" rises seven to #7. It is thus also the fifth top ten single of Bruno Mars.

Up three to #9 we have "Blank Space" of Taylor Swift, which turns into the third single of the US superstar to enter the top ten in Germany. Previous one "Shake That" peaked at #5.

Also on the rise is "The Nights" by Avicii, this time at #22, up from #29. After debuting last week at #71, "Ayo", Chris Brown and Tyga's first release from their collaborative album, skyrockets to #23. Chris Brown was that high in the German chart way back in 2011 when "Don't Wake Me Up" reached #11. The US star is also part of the new entry at #30, in which he provides support to Kid Ink's next single "Hotel". Prior to that "Body Language" peaked at #54. Kid Ink's only time in the top 40 as a lead singer was in 2013 with "Show Me", also a collaboration with Chris Brown.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 16.01
Finally some movement atop the German singles chart as David Guetta's
"Dangerous" gives up the number one position after being there for
seven non-consecutive weeks. It's up to British singer and newcomer
Kwabs and his amazing "Walk" to rise up one and claim the throne. Curiously,
the song flopped at #71 in his home country. While David Guetta falls
to #3, we have a new entry straight in at #2 coming from Clean Bandit
and their latest collaboration with Jess Glynne called "Real Love".
Their previous one "Rather Be" reached #1 in the course of the last year but
was followed by a misfire by Clean Bandit and "Come over" (peak #76),
while Jess Glynne had a brief success with "Right here", which peaked at
#25.

In the Album Chart Helene Fischer's megasuccess "Farbenspiel" returns to the summit, rising from #2. As many of you already know, the album crowned the year-end LP chart for 2014 after doing so for 2013 when it was actually released. It is also the home of single "Atemlos durch die Nacht", which despite never reaching #1 in the Top 100 ranked at the first position in the year-end Singles chart for 2014. And by the look of it, Helene Fischer starts the new year great as well.
