German Chart Comments - Issue Date 15.02
Will.I.Am and Britney Spears clock up a fifth week as Germany's number one with "Scream and Shout", while the highest new entry takes the runner-up slot. Legendary British band Depeche Mode are back with a new material and as it is already tradition the pilot single of their albums always charts high in Germany. Most recently "Precious", "Martyr" and "Wrong" - all pilot singles from new LPs, debuted at #2, with now "Heaven", the first single from "Delta Machine" doing the same. Though with 26 top ten singles, Depeche Mode have only two number ones in Germany - "People are People" and "Dream On".

Dutch dance duo Bingo Players had a big success with "Get Up (Rattle)" in UK several weeks ago and now it's time for the song to enter at #22 in the German charts. Bingo Players have only one song which has charted in Germany so far and it is actually "Rattle", the original on which the new single is based and which did not reach higher than #79.

This week "Bella Vita", the proper new single of DJ Antoine, is also climbing as it advances 12 notches to #25.

A lot has been said on German media over the past few weeks about the latest album of schlager legend Heino, whose first album dates back from 1967. So the veteran has decided to make his versions of many contemporary German hits (which reportedly triggered the angry reaction of the "affected" bands) and that has brought him a great success as the album not only debuts at #1, being the first chart topper of his long career, but also smashes a lot of records on the way. Hate it or love it, Heino has also brought several songs in the singles chart with the most successful being "Junge", originally by Die Aerzte, which enters at #27.

"I Knew You Were Trouble", Taylor Swift's alleged hymn to Harry from 1D, is up one in its second week to #33, while Passenger's "Let Her Go" is up six to #34.

German Chart Comments - Issue Date 8.02
It's a full month for Will.I.Am and Britney Spears on top as "Scream & Shout" sticks to the number one slot in Germany's singles chart. Olly Murs' "Troublemaker" is still at #2, while "Hall Of Fame" of The Script advances one to #3.

The global hype surrounding "Thrift Shop" of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Wanz has expectedly reached Germany as well and the smash hit soars 12 notches and enters the top ten at #8.
Video
Coinciding with the release of his new album, Swiss star DJ Antoine has flooded the singles chart with several new entries. The biggest of them, "Sky Is The Limit", is actually not the official one (this honour goes to Bella Vita at #37) but that doesn't prevent it from charting at #15. Now, DJ Antoine has three top 20 songs in Germany.
Sky Is The Limit - Audio
Bella Vita - Video
"Stay", the follow-up to Rihanna's massive number one "Diamonds", is finally in the top 20, this week at #16, up from #29. All we need now is a video... This is Rihanna's 21st top 20 single in Germany as she has only two songs as a lead musician which charted outside the first twenty positions.
Audio
It is now already turning into a tradition but Philipp Poisel is once again having a new peak with an old song as "Ich will nur" climbs to #23 from #41, where it re-entered last week.
Audio
"Beneath Your Beautiful" of Labrinth and the lovely Emeli Sande is also on the rise, this time up six to #25.
Video
Though with only brief appearances in the top 100, as if German rap music is currently enjoying a revival with the latest example being Haftbefehl. Though with three albums on his account, "Chabos wissen wer der Babo ist", which debuts at #30, is the first song of Haftbefehl to enter the singles countdown.
"Berlin (Bei Tag Und Nacht)", the third new entry at #32, is the first single of local pop singer Chris Prinz to enter the German charts.
Video
It's somehow strange that despite all the hype, the professional career of Taylor Swift develops extremely slowly in Germany as so far the US star has failed to score a big hit in the country. This week "I Knew You Were Trouble" makes a late new entry at #34. This is only the fourth song of Taylor to ever appear in the Top 100 and she is still to have a top 20 single. I guess to be on the cover of Bravo every week doesn't sell singles. One Direction are quite aware of that.
Video
"Let Her Go" of British singer Passenger, born as Mike Rosenberg, has already been #1 in Netherlands, Sweden and Belgium and in its second week in Germany soars 20 positions to enter the top 50 at #40, an increase from #60.
Video
Another two new entries appear at the low end of the top 50. At #47 German singer Leslie Clio brings a second single in the chart with "I Couldn't Care Less". Her first single "I Told You So" peaked at #41. Legendary schlager singer Matthias Reim appears with new material at #49. The song in question is called "Einsamer Stern".

The Album Chart
In the album chart, Matthias Reim leads an influx of new entries inside the top 10 as his "Unendlich" hits #1. Andrea Berag is down to #2, while the new albums of Tocotronic, Haftbefehl, Biffy Clyro, DJ Antoine and Faun debut from places three to seven.
